Meet grant

Grant is one of the founding directors of DAMH. He truly believes in inclusive education practices and believes that no child should go backwards. Grant has taught in the Education Queensland system for over 10 years. He has spent the majority of his time in the upper primary sector (years 4-6) however he has had many experiences with children in the younger years, as well as the special needs sector.

“I understand that every child is different, as are their learning styles and needs. I believe that learning needs to be fun and engaging. Children are often a product of their environment. If they are happy they are willing, adventurous and less fearful of failure.  I encourage all children to have a go without the fear of not succeeding. This attitude gives them an opportunity to rise above their own expectations.  The social values of manners and respect are imperative to a child’s success not only at school, but in the outside world. My passion is to see children succeed.”

Grant teaching passions spread further a field than the education system. Grant has coached many Sunshine Coast surfers to major champion ship wins, from Australian titles to International victories. He has also been contracted to coach international teams for countries abroad. Grant and his wife Rachel are the proud owners of the Maroochy Surf School, which is one of the leading surf schools in the country.
